Patio Pointing & Repointing in Yorkshire

We rake out failed patio joints and repoint paving and coping with a durable, traditional mortar across South & West Yorkshire. Sound joints stop weeds, keep slabs locked in place and keep water out of the bed. We do not use slurry or resin products; every job is quoted after a free site visit.

What does patio pointing & repointing involve?

The joints between patio slabs do more work than most people realise. They lock the paving together, stop weeds and moss taking hold, and prevent rainwater from soaking into the bed below. Once the pointing cracks or crumbles, slabs start to move, weeds appear in every gap and the patio begins to deteriorate much faster.

As pointing specialists, we treat patio joints with the same care we give brickwork. Failed mortar is raked out fully, not just skimmed over, so the new pointing has proper depth and grip. Joints are brushed out and dampened, then filled with a firm sand and cement mortar pressed well into the gap and finished neatly flush or with a slight weathered profile.

We deliberately use traditional mortar pointing rather than brush-in slurry or resin jointing compounds. Applied well, a good mortar joint is hard-wearing, repairable and suits natural stone and concrete paving alike. We also repoint coping stones on walls, steps and raised beds, which are often the first place joints fail.

Patio repointing works well alongside cleaning: a clean patio shows the fresh joints at their best, and we can do both on the same visit across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and the wider area.
